You will be responsible in aligning ships over blocks during graving/dry docking operations.Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you a valuable member of the team. Typical duties includes:
Building and positioning blocks, cradles, shoring and other support structures for ships in dry dock in all Marine railways. Constructing, altering, repairing or modifying items and structures such as framework, rafters, doors, finish paneling, window, cabinets and furniture. Laying brick, cement block, glass block, and various artificial stole in constructing and replanting foundations. Developing patterns and layout, cuts, forms, joins, assembles and installs all types of insulating material. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
1. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision(Screen-out Element) 2. Knowledge of equipment, assembly, installation, repair, etc.3. Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)4. Use of measuring instruments5. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading)6. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
