The position will serve as a journeyman-level electrician, and requires knowledge and application of electrical principles, materials, and safety standards. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
The selectee performing electrician work in support of the US Coast Guard (USCG), Naval Engineering Support Unit, Industrial Operations Division, which involves the repairing, altering, modification, testing, installing and checking of all types of electrical equipment and evaluating circuitry requiring to power the equipment of USCG shore and ship units Installing all types of electrical equipment such as motors, generators, converters, inverters, alternators, frequency modulators, transformers, controllers and switchboards; installing wire or cables of all sizes and the mechanical protection requiring by code; and installing various types of control and alarm systems. Maintenance and repairing consist of selecting and ordering the proper materials and possessing the various skills necessary for the proper installation of this material. This work including marine, civil, towers, piers, waterfront facilities, buildings, boats and Aid to Navigation applications of power generators, control equipment, switchboards, controllers, motors, and cables, conduits 1/2 to 4, circuit breakers, lighting equipment, and internal shipboard communication systems. The selectee will also be responsible for maintaining shop tools and equipment, spare parts, and shop stock on hand. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
