1. Degree:
botany; or basic plant science that included at least 24 semester hours in botany. OR 2. Combination of education and
Experience:
courses equivalent to a major in botany or basic plant science that included at least 24 semester hours in botany, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below. For the GS-07:
You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
As a professional botanist trainee, surveying, studying and preparing sections of reports on threatened, endangered and sensitive plant species and plant community and vegetation management for environmental assessment requirements. Participating in phases of planning, organizing and implementing biological investigations that affect threatened, endangered and sensitive plant species. Preparing correspondence on the technical aspects of work and preparing reports on progress of and results of threatened, endangered and sensitive plant species and plant community and vegetation management studies. OR One (1) year of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in a plant related field of study from an accredited institution. OR The successful combination of specialized experience and graduate level education (beyond 18 semester hours) that together meets the qualification requirements for this position. For the GS-09:
You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
As an advanced trainee, participating in the evaluation and monitoring of the threatened, endangered and sensitive plant species and plant community and vegetation management programs. Locating, surveying, identifying, and recording threatened, endangered and sensitive plant species information in order to meet environmental assessment requirements. Collecting and summarizing threatened, endangered and sensitive plant species and plant community and vegetation management data and administering plant species projects. OR Two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's degree or a Master's or equivalent graduate degree is a plant related program of study from an accredited institution. OR The successful combination of specialized experience and graduate level education (beyond 18 semester hours) that together meets the qualification requirements for this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT:
If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
